Milwaukee Public Library

A large three story Indiana Bedford limestone-clad building designed by Ferry & Clas in a Neo-Renaissance design during a competition among Milwaukee architects. The rotunda is a magnificent space with twelve columns and balustrades of old convent Sienna marble. Sculptor, Frank Steven executed the majority of floral carvings on the exterior of the building. The formal opening of the library took place on October 3, 1898.
